Jacob has always been the person to make time to speak with you, provide you with scriptural advice, and spread the biblical truth. He is compassionate, and empathetic, and encourages everyone along their spiritual journey. He knows that life has many challenges and he meets you where you are and guides you with a non-judgmental approach. He also has a great sense of humor which the congregation loves.

Pastors Oscar and Tabitha are encouraging and selfless. They are brave for starting a new church in 2022. God called them to start their own church in their home and it has now grown to where they are renting a church. Pastors Oscar and Tabitha are down to earth and help everyone understand the Bible and the truth in God’s word. They are all around awesome people!

Our pastor is dedicated to two congregations. He has always been there for us night and day. He has sacrificed time with his family, his health, and his finances to serve and minister to us. He is always available to listen to give good counsel and we love his pastor jokes.

Not only is she just an amazing person, but she has shown my girls how much love God has for them. I believe it was a God sent that she came into my life and the lives of our girls. She goes above and beyond to make sure that all the kids are very safe, and loved and that God is always with them. We love you, Angela!!

Bryce is our church’s youth pastor. I truly believe that Bryce is a key piece to our youth program’s success. He is constantly invested in the youth of many surrounding communities, whether it be through Wednesday youth nights, helping them and encouraging them to try a camp, showing up to their sporting events, traveling to a different country to serve on a missions trip, or helping them outwardly show their faith journey through their baptisms. He is encouraging, and supportive and can connect with many different personalities and ages. Having a youth pastor like Bryce can sometimes be under-recognized. I do not doubt that he’s played an incredibly important role in many of the lives of the kids that have come through the schools and communities near Steamboat Rock Baptist Church.

Generous, he makes us think, and keeps us on the right track!

Pastor Hartwig is a family man. He and his family are immersed in our church family. He attends the funerals of our member’s loved ones that have passed away from out of town if at all possible. He has traveled 2 hours one way to attend the funerals. I don’t know of many pastors who would do that, but he feels the need to offer that support. He is also a teacher of our vicars each year. Pastor has been with us 16 years and each of those years we have been assigned a Vicar. The vicars that have been here go back to the seminary talking about how much they learned in a year under Pastor Hartwig and how much they were allowed to do and lead in the ministry field. The pastor also is very good about showing he is human. If in a service he might make a mistake, he laughs at himself showing the congregation and the Vicar, that it’s okay to be human. A very common phrase he has taught the congregation is “You’re forgiven “. Each year he plans a theme and centers all the ministry around it. He plans and prints a whole booklet each year centered around the theme that includes all the Bible studies, activities, etc. is in this booklet with all the dates. This year’s theme is “Chosen. Amen. Amen. Amen.” He is also involved with the youth along with his wife Kara. Goes on youth conventions and mission trips. His family is involved in many ways. His daughters and sons helped teach VBS, they have run the camera, and the screens at church. Pastor Hartwig is involved with mission trips with the youth (UKANDO in Chicago) each year. He just returned from a mission trip to Panama that he headed up with members from the congregation that were trained to do eye checks and give the people eyeglasses. They worked with 4 different mission congregations to reach people and also share the good news of God. He is also not afraid to step up and prepare food for an event. He was in charge of the meals each night for VBS this year. Just this week someone asked my husband where we go to church and he said Our Redeemer and the guy said “Oh, I heard they have a really good pastor.” He is right!

As a newer member of this church (a little over a year), both of the leaders have helped me to find ways to grow and help others. When something new comes up one of them will take the time to let me know how I can fill a space and serve others. They are always very excited about my ideas and help me figure out how to put them into action. God is so good!

Pastor Roland and Dottie are exceptional Shepards who shepherd with the love of God. They truly amplify what the Bible defines as love in 1 Corinthians 13. They help to us to ignite a burning hunger for the word of the Lord and teach and guide us in the way of the Lord and his word. They watch over our souls with the greatest compassion and amazing grace. They are a shelter for the lost, hurting, sick and many wounded souls that are desperate for Jesus and they lead us closer to the King. Our Pastors encourage, train, empower and intercede for their sheep. Pastor Roland & Dottie have co labored with the Lord to create a hub in Northeast Iowa, called The Gathering for the great Luke 4:18 commission. We could not express enough gratitude for all that they do. FYI- Pastor Roland is the worlds, greatest evangelist.

Pastor Dave is here for all of us seven days a week if we need him. He helps with all tasks at the church, no matter how big or small. He treats everyone with interest, love, and compassion. He preaches from the Bible in ways we can all understand and relate to. He is so appreciated and valued!

Pastor Clint is passionate about teaching the truth and making sure the gospel is preached. The Bible is always the center of all he does and says. He is a great disciple maker and outreach into the community is a major goal of him and the church. His prayer is always that Christ increases and he decreases – great humility while pointing all to Christ and his teachings.
