Perspectives is much more than just a &#39;missions&#39; class.  It is a course in which you will have your eyes opened to the heart of God and how you can take part in His work no matter where you are located, from the jungles of Africa to Main Street, USA.

Over the course of fifteen weeks you will have the opportunity to learn from leaders and mentors who will challenge and inspire you with their personal experiences.  The class will help you see just how big God is and how much He desires that all might come to know Him.

From 5:30 - 8 pm LaSalle students will guide tours of classrooms.   Several 6th-8th grade students will exhibit photographs featuring regional small businesses.  Lancer Mascot posters, personalized by each student, will be displayed.  We’ll also have musical performances by each LaSalle band and the Center Stage Show Choir.  A spaghetti dinner will be served from 5:30-7:30 pm. This year Alternatives Fundraising dinner that is usually held in the spring will be held in February.   Why in February&#63; you may ask. Well this year we have a special guest speaker that we want to share with all of you. Dr. Bruce Wilkinson is known to millions of people all around the world as a dynamic and anointed speaker. Bruce&#39;s heart is touched by the needy of the world, and he has especially burdened for those who have sacrificed to save unborn babies. He has written more than 60 books including several books that reached the number-one spot on the bestseller lists. &#39;The Prayer of Jabez&#39;, remains the fastest selling book in history. It was also the first book to win the Christian Book of the Year award two years in a row. 				      <description><![CDATA[Terry  McNabb, professor of teacher education and associate dean of the faculty; Barbara Drexler, instructor in English as a second language; Scott McNabb, University of Iowa emeritus professor of education; John Chaimov, associate professor of German; Derek Buckaloo, associate professor of history. Eight thousand miles away, Southeast Asia is as otherworldly a place as a Midwesterner could imagine. But for five locals, it’s a place with deep connections to their Iowa work, interests and teaching. They will share their fascination in the opening forum of 2012. Thursday Forum lectures are held in Kesler Lecture Hall in Hickok Hall. Each session begins with coffee and pastries from 8:45-9:15 a.m., followed by the class until 11:30 a.m. The class meetings blend lecture, use of media such as film and music, and discussion. Each series concludes with a luncheon on the final Thursday. The courses are open to all adults. The cost is &#36;10 per week or &#36;30 for a four-week course. 				      <title><![CDATA[02/09/2012 - Splash of Color Breast Cancer Support Group]]></title>

				      <description><![CDATA[When you are diagnosed with breast cancer, you might feel alone, like you are the only one facing this struggle. Sometimes telling your story to someone else can help you, and also help the other person.

The “Splash of Color” meeting is Thursday, February 9 from 5-7 pm. It will be held at Waterloo Public Library, 415 Commercial Street in Waterloo.  This FREE event is open to all women of color living with breast cancer.  Refreshments are provided by Panera Bakery-Café. Activities are planned from 5 to 7 p.m., but participants can come and go as their schedules allows. Child care is available, but must be pre-arranged.  

Two speakers are planned for the evening. Shae Robinson, BSN will facilitate, &#39;Starting the Conversation.” This will be an open discussion. We will encourage participants to share their story in hopes of making our sisters feel comfortable, connected, and a &#39;Champion&#39; for the cause.  

Laura Wynohrad, from the Iowa Cancer Consortium will also speak about the Iowa Community-Based Cancer Prevention Project. The Iowa Cancer Consortium will be providing &#36;25 gift cards to attending breast cancer survivors and their support persons.

				      <description><![CDATA[Mount Mercy’s Janalyn Hanson White Gallery will showcase the artwork of graphic design artist Bill Basler during a special exhibit titled “From color to cattle to coffee: A 29-year Graphic Design Compendium.” The exhibit runs January 6 – February 10, Monday – Friday, 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. 

Basler will offer a special artist talk on February 10 at 4:00 p.m. in Lundy 4, Lower Lundy Hall on Mount Mercy’s campus. A closing reception celebrating the artist and his work will immediately follow from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. in the Gallery. All events are free and open to the public, seating may be limited. 

Basler holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in graphic design from Iowa State University. He has worked as a professional graphic designer since 1983 and began in the Cedar Rapids area with two local advertising agencies. In 1990 he founded Basler Design Group, which is now in its 21st year. 

Basler has been widely recognized in the graphic design and marketing fields. His firm’s work has been featured in Communication Arts, Graphis, How, and Print, the most respected journals for graphic design and visual communication. Basler Design Group has also won hundreds of local, regional, and national Addy Awards and National Agri-Marketing Association (NAMA) awards. He is currently working with the producers of the hit TV series “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” to create artwork for a newly remodeled house in West Union, Iowa, to be featured on the show.

Market St in Iowa City. Music will begin at 5pm with a performance by the bell choir from Coralville United Methodist Church. Also featured are performances by Laura Ludwig, a local vocal musician known for her rich soulful voice at 5:30pm and Lark, a local vocal trio at 6:15pm. Roasted chicken breast topped with a gourmet sauce and accompanied by a rice side dish, dessert and drink will be served from 5-7pm. Dinner tickets are &#36;20/person and must be purchased in advance. Tickets are available for cash purchase at Coldstone Creamery in Coralville.
