<p>Tuesday, April 20th, 2010</p>
<p>Tuesday, April 20th will mark the third bi-annual Empty Bowls event for the Northeast Iowa Food Bank. Join us for a modest meal of soup and bread beginning at 5:30 p.m. A Silent Auction will also begin at 5:30 p.m. and a Live Auction will start at 6:15 p.m. The event will take place at the UAW Hall in Waterloo.</p>
<p>Tickets for the event are just $20 and all dollars raised will go to support the Northeast Iowa Food Bank. With the purchase of a ticket, participants will also receive a handcrafted bowl as a symbol of hunger in our area.</p>

<p>The Feinstein Foundation&#8217;s $1 Million Challenge is finally<br />
here. Be sure to get involved before April 30th to see your donations go even further to helping hungry individuals in Northeast Iowa.</p>
<p>Every year, Mr. Feinstein donates up to $1 million to hunger fighting agencies across the nation. Now through April 30th, all donations made to the Northeast Iowa Food Bank will be proportionately matched by the Alan Feinstein Foundation.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Urban Dreams Inc, in conjunction with several Waterloo Agencies and Community Leaders is in the process of forming a female and a male alternative youth basketball league in Waterloo. This league will be open to all youth ages 13-17 years of age. The practices and games will be held at the new Carver Academy on Logan Ave (this school is located two blocks south of Allen Hospital). The female league will run from October 26th and end on December 3, 2009, with the male league beginning January 4th and ending on February 11th, 2010.</p>
<p>This league is being formed to give Waterloo youth an opportunity to participate in a positive activity during the evening hours from 7-9 pm on Mon, Tues and Thurs. Urban Dreams is seeking for volunteers to assist with this league in the role of coaching staff, referees, and to assist with security in /outside of the building.</p>

This is one of three of our largest fundraising events and Alternatives would love for you to be a part of it! Refreshments and entertainment will be provided for the duration of the event. Prizes will be awarded to the most highly sponsored walkers too! First Place Prize: 2 round trip airline tickets anywhere within the 48 contiguous states to be used at least 30 days after scheduling. Second Place: 1 recliner from Slumberland All pledges must be in no later than October 10th, 2009 (the day of the Walk.) All pledges given later than that date will not be eligible to win either prize. Winners will be notified by October 17th, 2009.</p>
<p>Any type of support for Alternatives helps change the lives of many who seek our center for our services.</p>
