2.  Plan your meals around the sale ad.  i.e.  whenever possible eat what’s on sale.

3.  If something is a great deal then it’s time to stock up.  Remember that most items like meat, bread, even vegetables can be frozen and used later.

4.  Use store and manufacture coupons together.  (Remember the store gets reimbursed for the manufacture coupons.)

5.  Don’t buy things you don’t need.  (It’s not a good deal unless you actually need the item.)

6.  Read the coupon.  Many times the coupon is good for items and sizes that are not shown in the picture.  Sometimes coupons are good for trial sizes too.

7.  It always pays to talk.  Talk to your friends.  Talk to the store clerks.  See what others are doing.  Store clerks can be the best because they see what others do.  Their information can be very valuable.

8.  Bookmark all your favorite stores websites for easy navigation to check for sales and coupons.

9.  Ask your store if they have a frequent shopper card or other special perks.  For example CVS is a local store that does.  Sign up for the card and when you see e-coupons online you simply click and attach them to your store card.  Then when you shop they scan your card and all the coupons are credited to your purchase.

10.  Help pay for college with your purchase by setting up a U Promise account at www.UPromise.com.  Lot’s of opportunities here.  Take some time to scan through the options.

11.  Work with your friends to share information and websites.  One we recommend is www.MoneySavingMom.com.

Alternatives Pregnancy Center’s Annual Walk for Life event is a fun and casual event to involve and create awareness in our community. Volunteers and those in support of Alternatives Pregnancy Center are encouraged to ask family and friends to sponsor them for the Walk. This is one of three of our largest fundraising events and Alternatives would love for you to be a part of it! Refreshments and entertainment will be provided for the duration of the event. Prizes will be awarded to the most highly sponsored walkers too! First Place Prize: 2 round trip airline tickets anywhere within the 48 contiguous states to be used at least 30 days after scheduling. Second Place: 1 recliner from Slumberland All pledges must be in no later than October 10th, 2009 (the day of the Walk.) Keys to Living helps with not only marital problems but also other personal issues you or your family may be facing.  They have locations in Cedar Rapids, Waterloo, and Iowa City.  Their phone number is 319 377-2161.

The goal of the Tour de Revs is to encourage contributions to support ELCA World Hunger activities. They  are seeking funds from individuals, congregations, and Synods to support the ELCA in meeting the $25 Million annual goal set in 1999. Along the way, the Team will also encourage folks to set personal health and wellness goals.

The trio will visit camp Noah in Postville at noon today (August 5).  At 3:00 p.m., the pastors will arrive in Plainfield and then bike to Redeemer Lutheran Church in Waverly.

Redeemer Lutheran Church and the Lutheran Youth Organization will sponsor a family event at 5:00 p.m., featuring volleyball, an inflatable jumping house, games, and a dunk tank!  Hot dogs, chips, and smores will also be available until 6:00 p.m.

Thursday morning the pastors will eat breakfast in Parkersburg before heading off to Iowa City.

This Spring, however, North Cedar Elementary School will play host to an evening of remembrance with more flood relief information, music, and food.

The North Cedar Remembrance Service is Scheduled for June 24 from 5:00-8:00pm.
