Hunger Action Month

One in eight Americans go hungry every day, some are children.  That is why The Northeast Iowa Food Bank is asking everone to take action during Hunger Action Month and Give a Little, Feed a lot.

The Northeast Iowa Food Bank can turn a single dollar into $11.91 worth of food to someone in our community living at risk of hunger.

Whether you give a lot or a little find out how you can help make a difference for a hungry family or neighbor.  The North East Iowa Food Bank has a list of 30 ways to fight hunger during the 30 days of September.

Friend for Life

I met Marilee when I started a new job. She immediately befriended me at work, and  she immediately started pulling pranks on me (I am very gulliable) We clicked as friends from day one. As our working relationship grew and since our cubicles were right next to each other, our friendship grew too. I quickly realized that Marilee had a great sense of humor, a great sense of style, she was a good friend, wife, mother, sister and daughter. What I also discovered was she had a solid relationship with God. I was a Christian at the time, but I didn’t have a Lordship relationship with God. Marilee and I become inseparable at work and we also would get together to shop and hang out – outside of work. When we went shopping she was my personal stylist always trying to get me to step out of my conservative (boring) wardrobe box :) But even more than her fashion advice I value Marilee’s unwavering support, encouragement and prayer. I didn’t realize it at the time but Marilee was covering me with prayer and thanks to her prayers (and others) I can gratefully say that I now have a Lordship relationship with God. Marilee is my best friend because I know I can talk to her about anything and she will not judge but support me. Marilee and I no longer work together but we still make time to get together to shop, talk, laugh and sometimes cry. When ever we say goodbye, I also thank God for blessing me with such a dear Friend and Sister in Christ – Marilee Gunderson.
