Money Saving Vacation Tips
Many of us have been hit hard financially this past year. It’s at this time that we need some physical and mental restoration. How can we get some time away without breaking the bank?
Here are some of the best of the best from today’s show. Thank you to all who participated!
–Calculate your spending power before you decide where you want to go. This avoids getting the cart before the horse. Find out what you have before you get your heart set on something you cannot afford.
–Have Fun Here in Iowa. Turn a tent in the backyard or a trip to Adventureland into a fun family vacation. Turn off the phone, sleep in, and do all the fun things in town you normally don’t get to do.
–Go Together. Vacationing with another family can save on food, lodging, and transportation. Especially good for single parent families.
–Book a hotel with breakfast included…then take pb&j for an inexpensive lunch.
–Check on condos. Sometimes you can find condos for the same price as a hotel…but you get a full kitchen so instead of eating out each day…save money by cooking more affordable meals in your condo.
–Go online. So many great deals are found by simply taking a moment to search for vacation ideas and coupons.
–Ask about specials. Many places have special discounts and other specials…the trick is taking a moment to ask for the best deal.
