Linn County Clamping Down on Flu

Linn County Public Health has recommended stricter standards for hospital visits this year due to H1N1 and the flue season.  Both Mercy Medical Center and St. Luke’s will be altering policies starting Friday.  Some of the changes include no children visitors, no visitors displaying any flu-like symptoms, and a postponement of school tours and sibling birth classes among others.  You can learn more through this Gazette article.

Embrace Your Geekness Day

Today could be one of the greatest days of the year: It’s Embrace Your Geekness Day. I try to take the opportunity to embrace my geekness often but it’s quite possible that you don’t.  If you’ve ever been a afraid of being called a geek, today is the day to let it out.  Feel free to download a new cool piece of software to your computer.  Visit a website like Lifehacker and learn how to use your computer to help you out or enjoy a science fiction movie like Star Wars or Star Trek.  Whatever you do, remember that today is the one day it’s ok to be a geek.
