Crazy Stuff

Compost your coffee

Even though the program has apparently been online since 1995, I wasn’t aware until today that select Starbucks stores gave away 5 lb. bags of used coffee grounds for use as compost for your garden. Since I’d never heard of this before, I wondered, “Why would you put coffee grounds in your garden?”  Turns out, there are a lot of reasons. Considering the amount of coffee we brew at home (and the number of old grounds we since thrown away), having a compost heap for our garden at home is looking better and better.

What’s down there?

Have you seen these shocking photos from Guatemala?

At first, I thought they were fake, but all the websites I read pointed out that they’ve been released by the Guatemalan government. This has to be scary for the people of Guatemala.  Keep them in your prayers.
