Baby Food Recall

As my daughter Bekah reaches almost one year old, we’re getting to the end of giving her baby-food and moving to whole foods mixed with mashed up real foods, like squash.  But, my parent radar still goes off whenever I see a recall on baby food.  This time, it’s a recall by Plum Organics of their apple and carrot portable pouch baby foods.  There is a possibility of the food being contaminated with botulism.  Learn more about the recall by clicking here.

Book a day?

Imagine a peaceful relaxing day.  That’s probably about as good as it gets most days, right? Imagining.  On a typical day we run around, running errands, going to work, picking up and dropping off kids for school and practice, making dinner, cleaning the house and feeling tired.  But at the same time, I wonder if we have more free time than we think we do.  One woman decided to take advantage of her free time and read a book a day for year. She’s on day 350.  Now, I’ll admit that she has some advantages like being well off and not having a full time job, but she says she still finds time to read as she waits to pick up the kids, in between chores, or even at night before bed.  I know that I’ve wished lately that I could read more.  Maybe I just need to make the time.

Scent of Fall

Some identify with Fall by the colder weather outside.  Another may look for the changing colors of the leaves as a sign that Fall is finally here.  It may betray the type of person I am, but I identify Fall by the scents that come from the kitchen.  This week, it’s been one of the sweeter smells of Fall: pumpkin.  My wife is a particular fan of the pumpkin flavor and so far we’ve had pumpkin pie, and last night we made Pumpkin Spice Bars; Fall is here.  Thankfully, there are a lot more great Fall foods to look forward to and I’d love to know what your favorite fall recipes are.  Click here to email me your favorite fall recipe and I’ll post it here so others can enjoy some of the best scents and tastes of fall.
