Remembering

Do you remember where you were 8 years ago today?  When I was growing up, I always remember hearing people say that they remembered where they were when they heard about Pearl Harbor or the death of President Kennedy.  I never really got it until September 11, 2001.  I was in chapel when one of the teachers came up to announce that a plane had crashed into the World Trade Center.  At that point, we all thought it was some horrible accident.  And as I sat there watching news during whatever classes I could, I thought, “This is what they meant when they said, ‘I remember where I was…’”.  I know that I’ll never forget.

Distraction of a Husband

It’s official: this football season is upon us.  High school football is starting up again, the NFL kicked off last night, and college football is in swing.  In fact, this weekend is “The Big Game”: Iowa and Iowa State go head to head in our state’s biggest rivalry.  If you’re looking for a safe weekend, it’s best to not pledge your allegiance for either team in public areas, as you never know what might happen.  Also, just a reminder, if you had any weekend projects you were hoping to get done before the end of the year, your husband might not be so much help anymore.

Not-so-great “Firsts”

If I’ve sounded tired at all recently, first of all, I’m not as tired as my wife.  And second, there’s a good reason.  Bekah hasn’t been sleeping well lately, and her cries have sounded kind of like pain lately.  After a really restless night last night, Amy decided to bring Bekah in to the doctor under the suspicion she had an ear infection.  Thankfully, she didn’t have that.  Unfortunately, she does have  a bad cold.  We noticed that a few days ago, but apparently the cold is bad enough that it’s caused little blisters in her throat.  This is definitely not one of those firsts you look forward to for your daughter.

Tracking my finances

This afternoon on the show, I mentioned an online tool that I’m testing out right now to see if it helps me keep better track of my finances called Wesabe.  If you want to check it out for yourself, you can see it here.
