Last night, the tornado sirens went off near our house, so after grabbing the baby, the dog, and the small tv with a line of cable, we trekked into the basement to wait it out.  Now, I should mention that I was in the basement earlier that afternoon, around 1pm and there was a little water creeping in around one wall.  That’s pretty typical fare for us.  This time, after 6pm, we were greeted with the sight of water bubbling up out of cracks in the floor.  Thankfully, this is the second time we’ve had a lot of water in the basement, so everything in the basement was already in a plastic bin, off the floor, or was trash.  As we helped the water along to the floor drain, where it flowed out of the house, it reminded me that as much as I wanted to have a nice finished tv room in the basement, it was nights like these I was thankful I didn’t have one.
