Your TV Will Go Away…or Maybe Not

I’m trying to remember when I first heard about the transition to digital.  It’s been going on a long time, in fact more than a year on I think.  Apparently, for some people, that wasn’t enough time.  Now the Senate has passed a bill which they’re sending to Congress; it would delay the DTV transition from February 17 to June 12.

Proponents say people haven’t had enough time and some would lose out on their TVs, while opponents say that it would be too confusing to switch the date at this point.  Over a year ago, when we discovered our rabbit ears weren’t worthy anything at our new house, we picked up the cheapest cable option there was just so we could watch Lost on Wednesday nights.  Everyone in my camp just wants those ads for the DTV transition to go away.

It’s the End of the World As We Know It…

Recently, there’s been a bit of talk about how the world is going to end in a few years, 2012 to be exact.  The reasoning comes from the ancient Mayan civilization. According the Mayan calendar, which has a 5,126-year cycle, the end of everything (or at least the calendar) is December 21st, 2012.  Of course it’s equally possible the guy putting together the calendar got to 5,126 and then couldn’t remember if he was on 5,126 or 5,125, and just said “Forget it!”

Whenever there’s speculation about this sort of thing, it’s good to remember that there’s only One who knows when the end of the world is coming.  In Matthew 24:36 it says “No one knows when that day or hour will come-not the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.”

I Want One!

There are days where I get to the end of a meal and think, “Man, I wish I had some dessert.” If I had one of these, I’d never have to say that again.  Anyone want to split it with me?

Forget Something?

Something I’ve learned about myself is that it’s really easy for me to forget.  I can forget pretty much anything.  If I don’t write it down, I’ll get halfway through my work day before I remember something I should have done right when I got there.  If you’re always trying to find ways to organize life before it devolves into chaos, I found a website you can check out.

It’s called Remember the Milk.  You can sign up for an account and then start adding tasks to your day.  Then you can add due dates and times, and have it send you an email or a text message to remind you.  Plus it’s all free.  You can try it out here.
