In this time of year, a war is being waged.  It is a war against your car and its tires, and the weapons of that war are giant, gaping holes in the road.  There’s nothing quite as bad as your jaw slamming shut and your entire body shaking, while you cringe at the noise of your fender slamming into the road because your tire just disappeared into a bottomless pit.  And sometimes it’s because you just can’t see them.  Sure, that shortcut was good during the summer, but now, you may want to stick to the highway just so you’re not swallowed up on your way to work.

So lets work together to stay informed.  I’ve put a map below.  If you know of a particularly nasty section road in Eastern Iowa, or the location of the biggest pothole you’ve ever seen, leave the address in the comments and I’ll add it to the map, so others can be aware of those spots as well.

Life is full of firsts.  Especially life as a small child.  Over the weekend we discovered that Bekah, our one year old, was experiencing another first: her first ear infection.  This one definitely wasn’t on our list.  I don’t even know if there’s a place for it in that baby calendar/book of firsts we have at our house.  Regardless, we got the news at Urgent Care last night and medication started soon after.  Either Bekah was feeling hospitable last night, or the medication is already kicking in, because she slept most of the night away, with one small wake-up early this morning.  If this keeps up, the rest of may be able to finally get over our colds too.

There’s another recall out on some Tylenol and Motrin products from Johnson and Johnson.  The recall relates to the fact that some of the products have a moldy smell to them.  That would make me nervous too.  If you want more information about the recall, click here.
